About the My Story Program
The My Story program was born from a tragic accident in 2003, when Michael G. Dann's family received notice that he was involved in a car accident placing him in the Intensive Care Unit at a nearby hospital. Having no identification with him at the time of the accident, Michael was admitted as a "John Doe" until his identity was confirmed and his family notified.

Michael's wife, Doreen, Chief Operations Officer at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, developed the My Story program from a simple, heartfelt wish for her husband's recovery and connecting his medical care with a depeer level of connection-emotional care. Doreen wanted the medical staff attending to her husband to know who he was, what he meant to his family and be able to provide care to Michael on a greater level...by knowing who he was as a person, father, husband and much more.

After writing two short paragraphs about Michael's story and what he meant to his family she gave this to his nurse.  The nursing staff at St. Jude Medical Center was so touched by what Doreen had done for her husband that they created the My Story program at St. Jude medical Center. Since it's inception, the My Story program was adopted at many hospital and medical centers across the nation.

Victor Valley Community Hospital is proud to offer the program to all our patients and developed an Adult and Pediatric version and offer in both English and Spanish.
